14th INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF YOUNG ARTISTS

06/04/ 2023 – 26/05/ 2023

The Biennial of Young Artists, which the Museum of Contemporary Art – Skopje has been organizing with occasional interruptions since 1987, is one of the most significant and vital manifestations of contemporary art in Macedonia. The main goal of the Biennial is to discover, affirm and critically articulate creative and inventive artistic processes and practices.

"Awakening" is the theme of the new, 14th International Biennial of Young Artists, which this year takes on an even broader international character, with participants from Italy, Romania, Norway, Serbia, Austria, Belgium, Albania, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, Sweden, Slovenia, Turkey. The Museum of Contemporary Art will appoint a jury, which will award an award for the best original work in the form of a solo exhibition to be held in the year following the Biennial.

One of the significant innovations of the exhibition is the educational center whose goal is to generate knowledge, encourage the establishment of young artists on the contemporary art scene and recognize and develop their potential. Hence, in addition to the exhibition, the project also has an educational program, which through a series of activities will recognize young authors, enable them to acquire appropriate knowledge, involve them in a process that will profile their work and help them in future engagement and presentation to the public.

38 artists will participate in the 14th Biennial of Young Artists, partly by selection of the curators of this year's exhibition, and partly through a public competition announced in the summer of 2022:
