The exhibition of world-renowned artists Dan Perzovski, whose medium of expression is drawing, and Lia Perzovski, a researcher, editor and conceptual artist, will open on September 26 at 8 p.m.
Dan Perzovski will present the art project "ReNews", and Lia Perzovski will present "Survival Kit (a selection from Knowledge Museum)".
The curator of the exhibition is Mira Gaqina.
The exhibition presents a unique look at the works of two leading contemporary artists, who explore the cultural, social and political realities of today.
Dan Perzovski is known for his minimalist, fast-paced drawings, which are often filled with irony, humor, and political commentary. He uses various forms of drawing – from wall installations, art books, to activist drawings – to criticize and analyze contemporary reality. His works address topics such as military conflicts, migration, political systems, and global economic challenges. He transforms drawing into a medium for communicating current social issues, and his installations are characterized by spontaneity and immediacy, which makes them unique and temporary. He most often creates his drawings in world-famous museum spaces, such as those at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where he created them in front of visitors. Another exhibition by Perzovski is drawn on the walls of a Portuguese bank and consists of comic drawings, which refer to several European issues such as Romania’s acceptance into the EU and the legalization of abortion in Portugal. His work reflects, above all, human issues and social relations.

Lia Perzovski is a conceptual artist and researcher who, through her work, creates connections between art, science and education. Her project “Knowledge Museum” is a long-term research effort to archive and transmit information from different fields of knowledge. Her works often question the norms of seeing and understanding the world, examining how perception is shaped by social, political and cultural contexts. She is the founder of several platforms and institutions such as “CCA” – the Contemporary Art Archive Bucharest and “KM” – the Museum of Knowledge, as well as “TSK” – the Telescopic Space of Knowledge. Lia Perzovski has realized solo exhibitions at the Nasher Museum in Dallas, the Ivan Gallery in Bucharest, the ESPAI Castellon Museum in Spain, as well as a number of group exhibitions, including at the Centre Pompidou-Beaubourg in Paris, Tate Modern in London, MACBA Barcelona and the Biennale in São Paulo and Sydney.
“This exhibition intertwines their shared approaches, while offering a multifaceted vision of how art can serve as a medium for social critique and transformation. Despite the different media in which they work, both artists share a common goal of using art as an instrument for engagement and change,” says curator Gaqina.

The project “Survival Kit (selection from the Museum of Knowledge)” by Lia Perzhovski is part of her broader project known as “Museum of Knowledge”, in which she explores concepts related to knowledge, education and social structures through a series of interactive and conceptual works. Survival Kit is an interdisciplinary project that includes various media and formats, such as: graphics, objects and documents. This selection is made as an attempt to create an educational resource, which through visual art explores and provokes reflection on history, culture and everyday life. The project may also include various interactive components that encourage viewers to engage and think differently, using visual elements to create new perspectives and critical thinking.
Dan Perzovski’s project “Renewed News” focuses on current social and political events through an original visual perspective. Conceived as a dynamic and evolving visual chronicle, responding to current events and changes in the world. The artist uses a variety of media, often combining graphics, texts and illustrations to create a creative and critical view of current events. This project often includes components such as comics, collages and paintings, which intensively explore and visualize the complexity of contemporary politics and society. Dan Perzovski focuses on how media and information influence our understanding of the world, and “Renewed News” is his attempt to explore and challenge traditional narratives and ways of reporting. In doing so, the artist encourages viewers to think about information, propaganda and the power of the media.
Dan and Lia Perzovski participated in the group exhibition "Small Talk" organized at the MSU - Skopje, 2001. They are on the list of donors of the MSU-Skopje collection. Last year they stayed at the MSU, where they held a lecture on the topic "Constant Repositioning, Between the Local and the Global" and a workshop "Drawing, Talking and Sharing".
